Is it really free?
Yes. There is no charge to add a listing, to claim one, to edit it, or to receive enquiries, and enquiries go straight to your own inbox rather than through us.
The site does not turn a profit and never has. There are optional paid placements, which move a listing higher in relevant search and city results. They are one-off payments, nothing renews automatically, and what they bring in goes towards hosting, the domain, email delivery and development time. At present that does not cover what the site costs to run.
A paid placement changes ordering only. It does not change the information shown on a listing, and paid and unpaid listings look identical.
I did not add my listing. How did you get my details?
From public professional sources, where your practice details are already published for people to find. Nothing was bought from a data broker or a mailing list, and nothing came from a client or a colleague.
A listing reproduces only what you have already chosen to publish professionally: your name, qualifications and registrations, practice address and telephone number. There are no notes, no client information and no health data about you.
Your email address is never shown publicly. It does not appear on your public listing or in its public page source. We use it to contact you about the listing, including the one-off notice and, after a listing is claimed, occasional operational messages; to pass on an enquiry when someone contacts you through the site, so the message reaches your inbox directly; and to verify a claim, so that only you can take control of the listing: if you sign in with the address we hold, the listing is matched to you straight away, and if you sign in with a different one, we send a code to the address on file instead. Once you claim a listing, its email address is visible to you in the private edit form so you can keep it current.
Do you check qualifications and registrations?
No, and we say so on every listing rather than leaving it to be assumed. We are a signposting directory, not an accrediting body, and we have never had a process that checked anyone's credentials.
Because of that, qualifications and registrations are shown only on listings a EMDR therapist has claimed, where the details were stated by the person they describe. On a listing compiled from public sources we do not publish them at all. Republishing a credential claim about someone who never gave it to us, and which we have not checked, is not something we are willing to stand behind.
Every listing points to EMDR Association UK, which publishes a register where every therapist listed has completed EMDR Europe-authorised training. Anyone who wants accreditation confirmed should check there, and we say so on the page rather than burying it.
Being listed here is not an endorsement by us, and a listing says nothing about anyone's competence or accreditation.
Why did I receive an email about my listing?
Because the law requires it, and we would rather tell you directly than leave you wondering. When personal data is compiled from public sources rather than collected from the person themselves, UK GDPR (Article 14) requires us to tell you what we hold, where it came from, why we are holding it, and what you can do about it.
It is the only notice of this kind we send. Your listing can still relay enquiries to your inbox. If you claim it, we may also send messages needed to verify or operate the listing and occasional notes about the listing you manage; those optional notes include an unsubscribe link. Marketing updates are sent only if you separately opt in.
You can leave the listing as it is, claim it and edit it yourself, ask us to correct something, or ask us to remove it entirely. All free, and you can change your mind at any time.
Do you store the enquiries sent to me?
Not in our own systems. When someone contacts you through your listing, the message is passed straight to our email provider and delivered to your inbox. It is never written to our database and never written to our logs, and we keep no copy of it anywhere of our own.
The honest limit on that: the message passes through our email provider, Resend, in order to be delivered, in the same way any email passes through a mail service. Resend retains sent email data for 30 days, and during that window the message is visible to us in their dashboard. We do not read enquiries as a matter of course, and we do not use them for anything, but it would be wrong to tell you we could not. After 30 days it is gone from there too.
The reply address is set to the enquirer, so when you reply it goes directly to them. We are not in the conversation and never see it. The enquiry is yours, not ours: once it reaches your inbox it sits within your own practice and your own data controls.
The only thing we record is a count: that your listing received an enquiry, and when. No name, no email address, no message text. It exists so you can see how many enquiries your listing has produced, and it holds nothing that could identify who contacted you.
Can I have my listing removed?
Yes, at any time and without giving a reason. If you received our one-off notice about your listing, that email carries a removal link which works immediately. Otherwise, ask us through the contact form and it will be done promptly.
Removal takes the listing off the site entirely: the page, the search results, the city pages and the sitemap, along with the contact route that sent enquiries to you. Your email address is deleted with it.
One thing we keep, and would rather state plainly than let you assume otherwise: a minimal suppression record, so a later import from a public register does not add you back by mistake. It holds three things and nothing else: a one-way hash of your email address, which is not the address itself and cannot be reversed back into it; the web address your listing page used; and your postcode. Its only purpose is to recognise and skip you. If you ever do want a listing in future, just ask, since otherwise we would skip you.
