Thomas Shortall
I completed my BA in pure psychology in 1984 and did postgraduate research before coming to London in 1986. Next year, I will have been in the UK for 40 years. I started cognitive therapy training with a behavioural psychotherapy course at the Maudsley Hospital in 1988 and have kept my training current, including a diploma in rational motive behaviour therapy and attending many CBT conferences. I’ve been registered with BABCP as a cognitive behaviour therapist since around 1991. My CBT development is ongoing, with new techniques emerging regularly. I also have training in trauma-focused CBT. Regarding EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing), a trauma therapy, I was one of the first in the UK to train, completing level one with Roger Solomon in Belfast in 2000, and I’ve been a Europe-registered EMDR therapist since 2015. I’ve been a chartered counselling psychologist since 1998.
